Bonspiel Results by Rick Lomore

Action at the club over the last two weekends included both the reintroduction of a past favorite- a Mixed Invitational, and the Ladies’ Closing. The former was held the weekend of February 23^rd and saw 16 teams, including some out of town sides from as far away as Carleton Place.

After the dust settled, the winners were:

“A” division- Jeff Faught, Sandra Faught, Rod White and Andrea Ryan

“B” division- Marcel Jonckheere, Carolyn Jonckheere, Doug Ferguson, Heidi Ferguson

“C” division- Larry Freeman, Roma Freeman, Tom Berndt, Mary Berndt

“D” division- Tyler Martin, Cassandra Martin, Mike Watt , Sally Riendeau.

This last team is notable in being formed from juniors, which is a good thing to see among the list of older players.

This past weekend was the timing for the club’s Ladies’ Closing bonspiel. Ten teams vied for honours in a two game points format. The overall winner was the crew of Sharon Tokarchuk, Claudia Reitlingshoefer, Heather Anne Pearson & Stacey Kemp. Second place, one point behind was the Margaret Lomore team with third place held by Deb Brown’s side.

The event was organized by Vicky Burnison with able assistance from a crew of volunteers- Vicky, Cindy and the rest (including some male drones) are to be commended for keeping cool heads in the face of some unforeseen glitches.

Coming up at the club in the next few weeks are several military bonspiels, with the Senior NCO being played this weekend. See the club website for dates of other upcoming events.
